Favorite wine apps?
Nov. 20th, 2011 @ 12:23 pm
I just got my first iPhone, and I'd love to download some wine apps, but I'm a little overwhelmed by the number available, even looking at online recommendations. Features I'm interested in:
tasting notes and prices
easy-to-use way to do my own tasting notes on the fly
They don't all have to be in the same app. And of course free is better, but I'm willing to pay a few bucks for one or more truly useful apps. Which apps do you like best, and why?
Here is the list I use all the time:
Wine Notes - I LOVE this app! It's a little weird to learn how to use...but it is a wine lover's best friend

Thanks! I've DL'd Daily Grape, Vintage Chart and iPairings so far and am going to play with them a little. Unfortunately the current version of Wine Notes, according to the reviews, is buggy - I'm going to wait and see if they fix it. :)
I will agree, Wine Notes is a little squirrely, but download it anyway. I do gripe about it every time I use it, but am also glad I have it. I would classify it as "klunky". It works well enough, though. When you try a new wine and want to record it, the app still works, especially with being able to take a snapshot of the bar code.
I didn't know there wine aps.
Thanks for asking this question. I will be watching this post with interest.

I have an Android phone, but I've never looked for wine apps either. Time to give it a try!
Try Swirl on android
I used to use the free version for a long time and it was useful for finding info about wines, but the pro version is great for cataloging. Also, it's the only app I've found that works without a network connection (like in my basement).
Unfortunately, I haven't found anything comparable on iPhone...
